Chinese Thanksgiving! Day 2- A new holiday to celebrate

Willis woke up to a houseful of people invading his space!
He escaped to the deck for a little quiet time and privacy, lol.

He demanded some reassurance from his Momma that
all was well.  So. Many. People. Trying. To. Pet. A. Willis.

Miss Joy baked one bird in the oven, and Len
prepared the other one which he put on the rotisserie.

I made the kids breakfast burritos, and they watched the Macy's
Thanksgiving Day parade while I baked pies and made the many
casseroles.  The house was smelling delicious!  I explained that today
was all about relaxation and eating...they were looking forward to it.

By 1pm, it was carving time!

We had our gathering in the community club
house, where we celebrated with Jerry & Joy,
Bobby & Alicia, Len & I and the seven Chinese babies :)

Alicia was in costume for the occasion, and served to explain
the First Thanksgiving to the kids...the Pilgrims didn't land in Asia!

Celia took a photo of her first Thanksgiving dinner :)
Sadly, we were so busy eating and enjoying ourselves,
there weren't any photos of us altogether. Dang it.

I can only understand about half of what Ginger is saying here,
but I sure do appreciate her enthusiasm for Thanksgiving
dinner!  The girl put away three plates of food :)

We were too stuffed for pie, so we decided to take a 'walk
about' on the golf carts for a tour of the 'hood.

First stop was at the Turkey Creek sign!  The kids got to meet
my neighbor Louise who painted it. They were very impressed
with her, and the details in her painting.  Left to right is Ginger,
Lavendar, Seraph, Tianchen, Annie, Rachel, and Celia.

Everybody took a turn at driving...even the ones who do not
yet have a driver's license, lol.  We met many of the neighbors,
then took the golf carts past the cows, the orange groves,
and to Ortona Lock on the Caloosahatchee River.

They enjoyed exploring the fields, taking
photos, and throwing rocks in the water...

...and driving...lots of Chinese fire drills, LOL.

Clearly they enjoyed the golf carts!

True to Thanksgiving tradition, Tianchen and Ginger
'made a wish' on the turkey wishbone.  Wouldn't it just
figure that these two broke the wishbone directly down
the middle?!  If that isn't collectivist, I don't know what is!

We finished out the evening with more food, more pie,
and we watched Wonder...such a great film.

A big day is planned for tomorrow,
we all have to rest up!

G'nite, y'all!
