When you only get one go around, you're bound to experience some firsts!

Nothing like starting your day with some delicious
coffee as your love weighs anchor at 7:15am :)
We didn't drag anchor, and both of us slept great!

Still smiling!  How can I not when I am doing
what I love with the one I love? I am so blessed.

I love the different buoys and lights.

We got lucky for a time and the wind clocked
around to the west, rather than the south. We
rolled out the jib and cruised steadily at 7-7.5
kts. When Len was at the helm, he hit 8.1 kts!
It was as if Kantiya was smiling, finally getting
the chance to do what she was built to do after
spending two years in a boatyard.  I was
happy for her and happy for me :)

And then there are no more pictures as things got a little crazy...

We passed the Potomac, and in to the open water, when outside the sight of land we hit five foot waves beating in to the wind.  The WORST for being on a sailboat. I started the puke burps, but held fast.  I felt better at the helm, and then I had a first...I buried the bow in a big wave and the spray flew to the stern of the boat! Ain't nobody got time to grab the camera when shit is flying all down below!

As we are trying to get out of the sloppy mess and in to a
protected anchorage, all of a sudden stakes appear and
it seems as if there is no way around them to the harbor.
Why are there STAKES???  It felt as if we lost power on
the engine, and it was a moment of slight panic until
I could get steerage and thrust.  I was afraid I had picked
up a fishing and line or net in my prop- thankfully, I didn't.

Day 2 of using the windless, and we anchored
no problem.  Len refilled the port side tank with
10 gallons of diesel.  We are getting 8-9 miles
to the gallon, which is great. The engine is running
like a top,  thanks to the mechanic on board. While he
added fuel, I fixed tortellini and garlic bread for dinner and
straightened up the cabin. By 10 pm we were cooked.

We had a beautiful little anchorage where we could watch the
working boats head in and out of the harbor in Reedsville, VA.

It was a long 12 hour+ day; time for G'nite, y'all!
