All is well in Willis' world

Many have asked how Willis T has adjusted to life in Florida, and if he has returned to the sailor cat's life.  The boy is a celebrity in his own right; so he asked me to capture his days to share with all of his fans...

He has found ALL of the comfy laying spots...wherever a
sun puddle is to be had.  Each morning he waits by the french
doors to be let out on to the porch so he can grab the prime
seating until we join him for morning coffee. The dern cat.

For the occasional change in scenery,
we crack open the sliding glass doors
so he can perch himself on the 'cat walk'
and watch the world go by... or the
herons fishing for lunch, or the gators
taking an afternoon nap, or the birds in
the starfruit tree. The boy has it MADE.

When the world gets too peopley for him, he can be found
in the guest bedroom, in need of a little 'quiet time.'

When Mom and Dad play music in the living
room, he positions himself right in the middle
of things. He refuses to play the finger cymbals.

Any time we are in the kitchen- preparing
a meal, enjoying a meal, or cleaning up the meal-
he has to make himself known with a Willis flop.

If he cannot be found in his usual laying spots, it's best to go
check on Kantiya. The boy thinks he is ALL THAT since
he can help himself on and off the boat whenever he pleases.

Kantiya's gunnels are much wider than he had
on Marquesa...perfect for a Willis who is almost
always so very, very tired and in need of a nap.

Of course the cockpit is a good laying spot, too.
While Len and I worked on building the finger
dock, you-know-who made a great straw boss.
Such a big helper.
For the past month, every spare moment on our three day
weekends we have been working on finishing our dock,
building a finger dock, and pouring a concrete sea wall
(by hand) that is a good 75' long. We finally took a much
needed break on a Sunday afternoon and went for a boat
ride. Given Mom's travels abroad, it has been nearly four
years since Willis T. Cat has been on a moving sailboat.
We invited the boy along, thinking it would be good
for him to get his sea legs back again.
(Truth be told, he invited himself, but, you know;)

The first twenty minutes were as awful as
he remembered.  He hates the sound of Lucille,
(the iron ginny), so he was a panting mess.

But soon he settled down, and you could see
that he remembered, "Oh yeah, I DO like this!"
There were boats to watch passing by...

...and cattle in the fields as we passed by...

...and while Mom took the helm, Dad serenaded us both
as we cruised along the Caloosahatchee.

When it was time for Dad to fire up the grill for some
brats, Willis was right there, being his usual helpful self.

After lunch, I caught him exploring down below...

...looking for a perfect sleeping spot since we just had lunch.
He loves the 'sky lights' over the bed.

In spite of my best efforts to shoo him from
Captain's quarters, (Len is highly allergic),
I came down below AGAIN to find him on our bed.
Looking indignant. Such a sassafras.

I later had a slight moment of panic when that dern cat was no where
to be found. I searched high and low in all the nooks and crannies,
and as I left the forward cabin, I spied him on top of the hanging
locker- looking disgusted at having been discovered. Really, now.

Just when I think he is so smart, and so clever, and brag that
he is merely a dog in cat's clothing, he pulls a bone head
move and searches for goldfish in our drinking water,-
twitchy tail and all. I. can't. even.

The neighbors once asked what the wild animal
was crawling around outside of our glassed in porch...

...it's just a Willis, looking for his next favorite sleeping spot.
So for those of you who expressed concerns about the furry beast, there is no need to worry.  All is well in the world of Willis T. Cat.  He loves his new home, and his new boat, and he is especially happy to be back with his Momma K.

He is the happiest cat in the USA :)

G'nite, y'all!
